Where Can I Buy Homeschooling Books, Curriculums, and Other Educational Materials?

Most bookstores (Gibsons, Borders, Barnes and Noble) offer discounts (15-20%) to home educators. Small bookstores can be especially helpful; check out Mainstreet Bookends in Warner, which is run by a homeschooling family.

The Rainbow Resource catalog is a fairly comprehensive source of discounted materials in every subject, and the company is run by a large, experienced homeschooling family.

There are many sources of  used books (Advanced Book Exchange, Alibris, Amazon), but one place that is fairly local is The Book Cellar, which is based in Nashua, NH. The store has gone completely online; there's no longer a "physical" store where you can browse books. They buy and sell used home-schooling textbooks (Abeka, Bob Jones, Saxon, Christian Liberty Press, Rod and Staff, and more) as well as other used books. The New Hampshire Antiquarian Booksellars Association lists many local, used bookstores, including Books By the Lake in Bradford. The association also sponsors an annual book sale, where you can browse rare and out-of-print books.

Curriculum Vendors

For an extensive list of curriculum vendors, organized by subject, check out the New Hampshire Homeschooling Coalition list of Curriculum Suppliers.  The list includes not only full curriculum programs but also sources of materials for everything from art to music to science.
