plant surveys, counting NH birds, identifying macroinvertebrates in the pond,
and canoeing to collect dragonflies!
You may register for the entire series, or individual classes. The classes
are appropriate for ages 7-12. Parents are invited to attend and

March 7: Tracking NH Wildlife
Footprints in the snow/mud tell stories about the secretive lives of wild
animals. We will learn to identify common NH mammal tracks and patterns through
games and investigation and measurement of real tracks and signs.
April 4: Measuring Nature
Learn how biologists conduct scientific research by collecting data using
various tools and methods. Examine plant density on the forest floor, measure
the height of trees, and measure temperature, wind, and other physical features
to discuss how they impact plant and wildlife distribution.
May 2: Birds Around Us
Learn to identify the parts of a bird, including wing-bars, primaries, crown and
nape. Discuss how to identify birds and travel into the forest and field
with binoculars and field guides to survey NH birds. We will even get the chance
to meet a bird up close and personal
June 6: Pond Probe
Whirligigs, damselflies, boatmen, and more live in NH’s ponds. We will
travel to the Brockway Audubon sanctuary to take an excursion into a wet world
and complete a survey of life in the pond. We will ask and answer questions,
such as how do they swim and eat.
Saturday, July 5: Canoe Trip- Dragon Fly Collecting, 10:00-1:00PM
N. H. Audubon has been studying and discovering the locations of dragon fly
species throughout NH. Here is your chance to grab a paddle, learn to canoe, and
collect and identify dragonfly exuvia on the Merrimack River. Your data will be
used by the N. H. Audubon conservation department.
Cost: $12.00 per student member/ $15.00 per student NM
